Apparently Opendrive has decided to close my account so all the files uploaded on that server will be deleted in a couple of days. I have no idea which is the guilty file as they didn't even notice me, I just couldn't log in into my account today and had to ask them why. So much for "premium" users service...
Basically, a lot of files will disappear shortly and I will have to sort things out again. If anyone has any suggestions...
that's why I stopped blogging got sick of reposting everything every 3 months
ReplyDeletearchive.org + zippyshare...
ReplyDeletethis things will always happen mate.
i'm affraid archive.org will not work in most case, band member has to give their approval for their music to be uploaded & shared there.
DeleteIf the band doesnt wanna share their music, any free host will not work.
DeleteI think, when we share bands's stuff, we are supposing that the band accept that. If the band doesn't wanna share their stuff, they just can contact with the blogger and remove the download link.
Unfortunately some bands/labels/distris/whatever prefer contact the host and get fucked the upload account, in which case we have to think in other better host or get an own server... this last option, for me, its expensive and out of our objective.
Finally, I recommend diversify the upload host (archive.org + zippyshare + ....). The probability to cancel all your different accounts is low.

Deleteyou don't understand, if you upload music to archive.org, the site will ask for the band approval before making it available to the public.
Deleteif the band is already there, you can upload all the live stuff you want from them.
what i don't know if they do that themself or it is the band that have to get in contact with them and i do not know if they allow official records there
Vince, sorry now I see your point. But Its weird... I'm posting archive.org links since one year or so and never had problems.
Deletei gave a look to what kind of stuff you uploaded there, mostly obscure old punk bands & comps uploaded under the creative common license. that label seems to be for creators of the music to set some rules on how they want their music to be shared & modified. they explicitely state that you have to ask for permission of the band before doing anything with their music.
Deletenow apparently they aren't as stric as their rules.... so who wants to try to upload a fat wreck chords album to see what is happening?? :-P
I'll try to re-upload as many files as I can for the time being. A mate of mine offered to help me get my own server but it's a bit expensive. I also have to think about where I want to take the blog.
