I mean we can listen to melodic death metal from the time period (At the Gates and In Flames) or even the metalcore scene had their flare of bands (At the Gatescore?). That's saying alot to favor metalcore over the crust.Media Hitshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10229147200216399824noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8679256753829822948.post-86156312362884538912020-11-02T10:43:54.172+01:002020-11-02T10:43:54.172+01:00Hallo there. I don't know if I will but I actually considered it.
The term "neocrust" was a typically lazy one as many bands characterised as such were not actually crust (as you said, bands with a taste for epic tuneful leads informed by Tragedy or FAR). To be honest, a lot of bands that went for that type of sound (and there were tons of them at some point) did not age well at all and although I was really into it in the early 00's, it became very redundant very quickly (an odd statement coming from a d-beat orthodox I suppose). Just try playing Massmörd, Ambulance or Down to Agony and you'll see what I mean.
This said, there were some genuinely good bands in the lot, although I rarely play "neocrust" (or "epicrust" or whatever, we used to call it "crust de salon" in France) anymore. My town had that one of those as well.

I'm sure you've written on this before. That means reading many more of your columns to find them!Media Hitshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10229147200216399824noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8679256753829822948.post-84346585578369219482016-05-29T15:52:57.077+02:002016-05-29T15:52:57.077+02:00la aferra

Je t'avoue que c'est un achat plutôt récent donc j'ai un regard moins chargé d'émotions mais je trouve que c'est une très bonne compilation. The Earslaughterershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02212895653381929613noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8679256753829822948.post-15907086443907087762016-05-26T14:24:27.060+02:002016-05-26T14:24:27.060+02:00There are a couple of very solid songs on this one...There are a couple of very solid songs on this one. As I mentioned, the guitar work on the EOM tracks made it a worthwhile purchase to start with. No crust band plays like this anymore. Sharpeville and Counterblast are also highlights, and the Scatha track has a different than on the Lp I think. As for La Aferra, I'm with you here. I cannot believe I didn't notice this band before or that no one mentioned it to me. They are inventive, heavy and have this great Polish feel in the songwriting. I will definitely try to get some of their records (shouldn't be too difficult) for the blog.
et puis comme ca fait assez longtemps que je l'ai pas ecouter, je vais pouvoir voir si mes gout ont changer depuis :-pVincehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14323603629356319282noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8679256753829822948.post-31072875171465818352016-05-25T03:41:29.946+02:002016-05-25T03:41:29.946+02:00By 1999, my ravenous appetite for music had caught...By 1999, my ravenous appetite for music had caught up with me. I had at least two stuffed, and more likely three, LP boxes of unplayed albums. The greatness of the 90s, and my unbridled interest in too many genres, had caught up with me. That atmosphere and frustration are good reasons why I never bought this comp. At this point, I'd own it for the mere quality of the booklet and gatefold. That's no longer a good enough reason to add to the albatross of the record collection. I'm grateful to have the rip, though. Thanks a lot.

I continue to argue that SHoS are a superior band to WB2D. For that, Mâkhi interests me. There are a couple of other tracks I'm looking forward to hearing, like Counterblast. Some of the others have since been included on discography CDs (love them). What I'm most exciting about hearing and exploring is La Aferra. For whatever reason, I'd never heard of them. A few youtube plays have me excited about their style. Very cool. -ZMAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
